Pirates roll past Huskies for third straight win

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College softball team keeps on winning as the Pirates improved to 3-0 with a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting East Los Angeles College on Wednesday at the OCC Softball Complex.

Coast pounded out 11 hits, including a pair of doubles by Madison Taylor, a triple by Pirate newcomer Joanna Michaels and a three-run home run off the bat of Madison LeClaire. Taylor finished with three hits, three runs and an RBI, while LeClaire scored twice and drove in three to pace the victory for the Pirates.

Jordyn East, who led OCC to victory in the season opener, improved to 2-0 with a solid four innings of work, allowing just one hit and three walks with four strikeouts.

After a scoreless first inning ... the Pirates pulled away from the Huskies with three runs in the second, three more in the third and four in the fourth to earn the run-rule victory.

It was the second five-inning win in 24 hours for the Pirates, who went up to Rio Hondo College and blanked the Roadrunners, 8-0, on Tuesday.

In that win, Liana Castro went 2-for-2 with two runs and four RBI for Coast, while Taylor, Jessica Scotty and Bronwyn Jarvis each added a hit and an RBI.

Jarvis picked up the complete-game win for Coast, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with four walks and two strikeouts.

With rain in the upcoming forecast, Friday's doubleheader with San Diego City and Southwestern was postponed. OCC's next home game will take place on Wednesday against San Bernardino Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.
