OCC's Taylor commits to San Diego Christian College

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College softball standout Madison Taylor will continue her athletic and academic careers down at San Diego Christian College next school year, according to Pirate head coach Jodie Kiaha.

Taylor has been a workhorse for the vastly improved Pirates (15-10) in 2019, playing the majority of the season OCC's starting catcher. In 24 games, she is batting .370 with 20 hits, 16 runs, eight doubles and eight RBI, while also throwing out six baserunners on defense.

"Madison is going to great things at the next level," Kiaha said of Taylor. "She has been a steady hand behind the plate this season and leads each day by example. I look forward to seeing the success that she will have in the future, and grateful that she started out as a Pirate."

Taylor has been a steady force in the heart of the OCC lineup. Her 20 hits are tied for the third-most on the team, while her eight doubles leads the Pirate roster.

Among her highlighted games thus far in 2019 include a 3-for-3, two-double, three-run, two RBI day against East Los Angeles, a 2-for-2, two-double, two-run, two-RBI effort against L.A. Mission and a 2-for-2, two-run performance against Long Beach City College.

San Diego Christian College is a NAIA college, located in Santee, CA and the school's softball program is coached by Sarah Hershman-McGrath.
