Pirates double-up on San Diego City

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team used strong doubles play to pull out a 6-3 nonconference win over visiting San Diego City College on Friday to improve to 4-0 overall.

In their toughest match thus far in the early portion of the season, the Pirates wrapped up singles play in a 3-3 tie, with wins coming from Clarisa Colling (6-1, 6-0), JoAnn Taylor (2-6, 6-1, 10-4) and Katie Dahlberg (6-1, 6-4).

But in doubles play, Coast went a perfect 3-0 as Colling/Karen Trinh (8-0), Dahlberg/Cecilia Arzaga (8-6) and Taylor/Samantha Newhall (8-4) posted victories to pull out the team win.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at El Camino College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will take place on Friday against Imperial Valley, also at 2 p.m.
