COSTA MESA -- A dominating second half proved to be more than enough for the Orange Coast College women's soccer team in Friday afternoon's 5-0 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Santa Ana.
Outshooting the Dons, 19-2, OCC (4-3-3, 3-1-2 in conference) led only 1-0 at the half before a three-goal run over a four-minute span midway through the second half ended all hopes for the guests.
Coast jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute was a throw-in was nicely kicked by Ana Villanueva over her head and into the penalty area, where Sydnee Busby redirected the ball into the net.
Jessica Bracken made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute off of a pass by Cori Haney. Three minutes later, back-to-back goals by Emma Gomez (off of a free kick) and Busby (assisted by Haney) made it 4-0 and the Pirates cruised from there.
Finally, in the 80th minute Judy Gonzalez took a feed from Rachel Meier and slipped her shot past SAC goalie Joey Martinez, who finished with seven saves.
OCC netminder Odalis Elias didn't see much action, but still recorded a save in the shutout victory.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday at home against Cypress College, beginning at 3 p.m.
