IRVINE -- The Orange Coast College women's soccer team played a solid, all-around game and rolled past Irvine Valley College, 3-0, on Tuesday at IVC.
Unlike Friday's 1-1 tie against Golden West, Tuesday's win over the Lasers found the Pirates finishing their scoring opportunities.
In the 25th minute, Samantha Lombardo fed a streaking Sydnee Busby, who ripped a shot to the right of IVC netminder Hermina Verduzco to give Coast a 1-0 lead.
Fourteen minutes later, Jessica Bracken sent a nice cross-pass over to teammate Cori Haney, who buried her scoring chance into the back of the net, giving the Pirates a 2-0 advantage.
Finally, just before the end of the first half, Haney was fouled inside the IVC penalty area, giving the Pirates a penalty kick opportunity. Emma Gomez stepped up and converted the PK shot to make it 3-0.
OCC goalkeeper Odalis Elias earned the shutout win and notched four saves along the way.
Coast will return to action on Friday at home against Santa Ana, beginning at 3 p.m.
